Despite the hullabaloo with the protests and stuff, of course the Kikay Barkada trooped to the spankin’ brand new Mall Of Asia Arena. It was huge! I just felt special, being part of history as yesterday’s Lady Gaga: The Born This Way Ball concert was the first ever show performed there. We de-virginized the arena.

When we got to the mosh pit (thanks to Smart Social Media, especially Abbie Real and Ana Morada!

How to reactivate lost Globe Prepaid SIM card

Getting your mobile phone lost is really frustrating. It is because more than the phone which you take everyday, almost your buddy, it is losing your connection to important people, losing their numbers and make you feel more like a LOSER too!

Last May 1, 2012, I lost my phone while roaming around the mall. And I was so dissapointed, because at this time of my career as a media practitioner I am building my list of contacts for business. So I called right away to Globe Customer Service to seek advice for lost sim cards. And no doubt they have services for this matter, but what surprised me is that they cater PREPAID users too. (I’m a prepaid user.) They said they can reactivate my number! Yey!

So the next day I went to the Globe Center in SM North EDSA The Annex to process this…

Steps for Reactivation of lost Globe Prepaid SIM card (this is what I did):

1. You need to go to Globe Center and get a form in where you will state some information including your lost, mobile number, reason of lost, your name, etc.

2. The filled up form needs to be notarized.

3. You need to go back again to Globe Center, and this time you need to bring the notarized form, one (1) valid I.D. at least, and P50.00 (yes only 50php) for processing for the (upgraded) 64k SIM card .

4. Get your SIM card, and make sure not to loose your phone or SIM card again!

*NOTE: The attendant said to me that there are certain available numbers that can be activated on certain days though. So be patient enough if your number isn’t available on the day you want to process it. :) :) :)

One thing also that you need to know is that you can’t be able to recover your contacts, but at least you can get your old number and some important people can still reach you. Well at least! :) :) :)

366 days after Graduation

Today  marks 1 year after my college graduation. To graduate is one of the most fulfilling, may you able to have it with flying colors or not. It was about the start of everything. Fears I had before was now conquered and in days between the year after I graduated, I challenged myself and fear again and conquered it once more. I know it;s going to be more than a cycle. One round of your life will probably different from the other. I encountered disappointments, happiness, and plain days. But I guess it is how i took each day and what kind of people I am with with those times trying to be different and make a difference or just lay down and seized the day.

So now, I guess I’m a little bit wiser baby! I was able to work and work with awesome and some bullshits, and I can say I learned. I am learning to trust my instincts and slowly tries to cover ears when I know bad ones try to talk about shits! Damn, I know they have no room to be better unless they accept their own shits too, like how I accepted mine. I am not bitter. Just saying.

But overall, I am happy. I may not achieved the peak of it, at least I learned. And still believing that there is no other way but to go up.    So I keep exploring my potentials and still believing I can do more.

Now I am looking forward to do more things I love and try the things I thought I hate, and if it won’t work I will try to love again.

Dog Festival It’s More Fun in the Philippines: San Roque Fiesta Valenzuela City

I am fond of celebrations because it is the time where everything I find looked so colorful, festive and happy. It is the time where everybody seems to have smile on their faces and eat together, dance together, so much talks and laughs. And whenever I think celebrations, more than my birthday, I thought of  Christmas, New Year and yes, even Festivals or ‘fiestas’. I mean it is one of the awesomest time of the year for us Filipinos.

Here in the Philippines, most festivals around the country are being celebrated during the month of May. It is being celebrated differently by different towns and for different reasons.  Sometimes for thanksgiving, for good luck, for celebration of Catholic Saints’ birthdays and other anniversaries, for good harvest etc.

I for one have witnessed different fiestas around town. But since I love my own, one of my favorite festival is being celebrated in our barangay in Valenzuela City- ‘Mano Po! San Roque Fiesta’.  I find it so festive and exciting because our barangay officials, volunteers and sponsors prepare and make like a week-long-celebration, though May 12 is the official date of the celebration.  Different activities everyday, from singing competition, dance contest to talent search.

And since our patron saint Saint Roch or San Roque is known to be a patron saint of dogs, dog parade is one of the most anticipated event.

It is also nice to be see bunch of dancers from different organizations and religious groups who dance their way out in the streets of of our barangay for the Sayaw Pasasalamat (Thanksgiving Dance) . During this time, it is not only the youth who grooves to the rhythm but even the elderlies. It is because, there was this saying or superstition that when you were able to dance to San Roque fiesta for years- make it a routine!- you’ll be able to find the man or woman who is destined for you. Yikee! I would love to dance this year!

So this summer, and when you are in the Philippines try to visit the most colorful and happiest fiestas around town. And you might want to try to witness the San Roque Fiesta on May 12! And try to find the person that is meant for you in a fun way! *wink

Catholic Priest in Sydney married to a Filipina

I have heard stories about Catholic priests who entered romantic relationship.  I mean it is no secret to many of us that unlike the pastors in other Christian churches or sector are allowed to have a wife and even a family. But for Roman Catholic priests, it is a bizarre to be in a relationship, and if this happens, it’s a taboo. But the truth is it arises.

So when a Catholic priest in Glenmore Park in Sydney, came out with his marriage with a Filipina woman, it wasn’t so surprising. Fr. Kevin Lee served as a priest for 20 years, but with a human nature, he felt he was loved so in return he gave his love to this woman, whom he was able to marry.

According to Fr. Kevin, he was not the only God’s servant who’s living a double life, but he knows many of them. And more than feeling ashamed to  what he has entered, he felt more pitiful to his co-servants who cannot admit their situations to the public.

And because of being out in the open about his marriage, Lee got suspended in 2002.

Fr. Kevin’s admission can be practical or not and his accusation can be widely true or not, the only thing that I know for sure is that living in  lie makes you feel like a prisoner forever. Well, indeed the truth will set you free.

But what’s your take? Sinner or not?

DepEd: No terror teachers on the opening of classes

I for one, became friends with some of my elementary and highschool teachers. Indeed, they are the ones who made my life easier inside the school and they helped me to be the person I became today. But I’m no teachers pet, for sure.

But it is no secret to many of us that though there are such approachable and kind teachers, there are those teachers who kept your heart-pounding every time you encounter them.

I remember some time in my 4th grade, me and my brother were in the same math class (well, we’re on the same level since he was accelerated), and one day we were up for a recitation where we have to answer a problem on the board, and when it was my brother’s turn I was so afraid that he can’t be able to make it. And it happened, he was not able to answer the problem and our teacher pushed his head to the board and I was like so afraid then. I really don’t know what to do because I felt then that when I react about what happened I’ll get into trouble. So after the class I cried so hard for my brother. And after that situation, I pushed myself to be good in math, and so my brother.  In fact, that school year I was one of the best students in our Math class.

Terror teachers can be really a big push to every student, but then the impression and the relationship is more important for me. So I am happy when I heared that Department of Education made this kind of ordinance where public shool teachers should welcome their students with a smile on the opening of the class for this coming school year 2012-2013.  This will be part of the uniform policy of the teachers and principals.  This policy intend to lessen the stress of the students. This  will also create good impression to the students, specially the young ones and even push them to go to school every single day.

But I hope that smiling should not be given just for a day, but let it be there the whole school year round. :)
